Here at Paddington Weddings we make many beautiful wedding dresses with sleeves, it is such an elegant look that is great for covering arms that we may not love but it’s also a fabulous style choice on many brides. Sleeves are also a popular option if you have decided on a winter wedding or a colder climate in general.
We like to make our sleeves out of a soft lace that is comfortable to wear, not itchy or too beaded so it catches on everything. A soft lace also stops your wedding dress becoming too hot and restrictive to wear. Of course the design of your gown is important but so is your comfort on the day and if you put a solid, stiff sleeve in a gown you are not going to enjoy your time on the dance floor on your wedding day!
The cap sleeve:
The cap sleeve is very popular here in Queensland, with our warmer climate it allows you to have some coverage over your shoulders even in the hottest summer months. If you are fuller in the hips and have narrow shoulders a cap sleeve is perfect for balancing your figure.
The short sleeve:
This is also great for the warmer months, it covers over the part of the arm that many brides don’t like but still shows off a slim forearm and wrist.
The 3/4 sleeve:
This length will elongate your arm so great if you are more petite and want to feel taller. It is a very comfortable length to wear and gives you options of detailed cuffs or scalloped trims that add a fabulous feature to your gown.
The Full length sleeve:
This is the most formal way to wear a sleeve and it is just stunning, especially if it is created in a soft lace with a scalloped edge. It often works if you combine this feature with a plunging V neck and V back so you break up the detail on your dress and it doesn’t become too overwhelming.
Talk to our design consultants during your fittings about which sleeve will suit you and your gown the best. Each of our Bertossi Brides gowns are created right here in our Paddington Weddings studio in Brisbane so we can tailor your sleeve so it is perfect for you.
