Brides always ask us how we name our gowns here at Paddington Weddings. They are named after the first bride who falls in love with the design and for the past 26 years this has worked perfectly, as you can see from this stunning real wedding. We created the ‘Abigail’ gown for ‘Abigail’ and she just looked stunning in this modern, fitted gown with stylish halter neckline and dramatic train.

We asked Abigail for some top tips with regards to wedding dress shopping to help all brides to be in their search for the one…..

How did you research the shops you were going to visit?

To start with I mainly used Instagram to look at different collections and shops around Brisbane and the coast. However, Paddington Weddings was recommended to me by my now sister in law.

How many shops did you visit?

I just visited two! Paddington Weddings was the second shop I came to and I didn’t need to look any further.

How did you know when you had found the one?

As soon as I walked into paddington weddings I saw the dress that would later become mine on a mannequin and was instantly drawn to it. I found out that the dress was a brand new design and in-fact had only just been put out on the shop floor that morning! I went to try it on and it was a perfect fit and felt absolutely amazing! Then I learnt that the dress was made from Nottingham lace, the same lace that my Grandmothers dress had been made from, which was pretty special. All of this things lined up so perfectly that I just knew that this was the dress for me, even though it isn’t exactly what I had in mind before entering the shop.

Any tips on what happens in the different stores, what to bring, what you found useful?

Wedding dress shopping is so fun! The main things that could be helpful to bring are a strapless bra and some good underwear, even some Spanx if you have them. It’s good to go with an idea of what you like, but also be open to look around and try on some different styles, you might surprise yourself!

Any special moment from your wedding day or a pearl of wisdom that you wish you knew when you were planning your wedding?

I honestly enjoyed every part of my wedding day, even though it felt very surreal! The main advice that I would give is that not everything needs to be perfect, not everything went to plan on the day but even so it was such a special time and very few people, if anyone, notices the small details that are missing!
